World Anti-Corruption Day -2025

World Anti-Corruption Day 2025 was observed on 9 December @ 11.15 a.m. at the Ahalia School of Management (ASM), aligning with the global campaign to combat corruption and promote transparent, accountable governance systems. Situated in the serene and eco-friendly Ahalia Health, Heritage & Knowledge Village in Palakkad – a region known for its rich cultural heritage, educational institutions and rapidly growing industrial ecosystem – SM actively engages in promoting value-based education and responsible management practices. The observance of this day reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing ethically grounded business leaders for a sustainable future. As part of this, ASM organized an expert talk on the theme “From Values to Value: Ethics as the Engine of Sustainable Business.” The theme was particularly relevant to the socio-economic context of Kerala and Palakkad district, where emerging industries, MSMEs, start-ups and service sectors increasingly acknowledge the need for ethical governance to ensure long-term credibility and competitiveness. Prof. Dr. B. Vijayachandran Pillai, Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management, who emphasized the importance of instilling ethical thinking among future managers. He highlighted the role of business education in shaping professionals capable of resisting corrupt practices and fostering a culture of fairness, transparency and accountability in workplaces. Thereafter, he introduced the guest speaker, Adv. Suparna Gopal, ACS, Practicing Trademark Attorney and Company Secretary, renowned for her expertise in corporate legal compliance, intellectual property rights and promoting ethical business frameworks. Dr Rajesh S, Principal, ASCM offered felicitations. Adv. Suparna Gopal delivered an insightful, engaging and thought-provoking session that effectively connected legal perspectives with managerial realities. She emphasised on the following areas.

•           How fresh graduates can resist pressure to engage in unethical practices

•           Corporate scams and lessons for future managers

•           Ethical decision-making in digital environments

•           Balancing career aspirations with personal integrity

•           Promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a value-driven initiative rather than a formality She illustrated her points with real-world corporate case studies, highlighting both national and international examples. These cases helped students understand how ethical lapses affect brand reputation, stakeholder trust, organizational sustainability and even national economic progress. The session came to an end at 1.00 p.m.
