A five-day internship programme was conducted at Ahalia Hospital AHCL, Palakkad, from 17th to 21st February 2026, as part of the institution’s ongoing academic-industry collaboration. A total of 20 students participated in the programme.
The internship was designed to provide students with practical exposure to the day-to-day functioning and administration of a multispecialty hospital. Students gained first-hand insights into patient registration and admission procedures, OPD and IPD operations, appointment scheduling, patient flow management, billing and insurance processes, medical records management, pharmacy and diagnostic services, housekeeping and other support services.
The programme also focused on understanding interdepartmental coordination, patient-centred care, service quality, hospital workflow and operational efficiency. Through observation and interaction with hospital personnel, students were able to connect their academic knowledge with real-world healthcare management practices. The internship provided a valuable learning experience, enabling students to develop practical knowledge, professional skills and a deeper understanding of hospital administration and healthcare service delivery.
