As part of its commitment to experiential learning and industry-oriented management education, Ahalia School of Management (ASM) organized an industrial visit to Eaton India, Malumichampatti, Coimbatore, on 14 August 2026. A team comprising 27 MBA students and three staff members participated in the visit. The team departed from the Ahalia campus at 9.30 AM and reached the Eaton facility at approximately 10.30 AM.
The visit commenced with an insightful orientation programme conducted by the Eaton Coimbatore team. Through a carefully designed video presentation, the students were introduced to Eaton’s corporate profile, evolution and growth, product portfolio, business areas, achievements, awards and industry presence. The resource team comprising Mr. Pandian Dharmaraj, Mr. Siby Joseph, Mr. Sreenivasan, Mr. Bhoopalan, Mr. Abhishek, Mr. Kanagaraj, Mr. Kannan Raman and Mr. Thyagu interacted with the students and shared valuable perspectives on contemporary industrial management practices.
A significant part of the session focused on Business Excellence, Small Kaizen, Rapid Improvement Events and Quality Improvement, supported by practical case studies. These discussions helped students understand how seemingly small and continuous improvements can contribute to operational efficiency and organizational excellence. The students were also in-spired through a video presentation featuring Mr. Ratan Tata, which highlighted the importance of values, leadership, perseverance and responsible business practices. The Eaton team further encouraged the students to explore a web series documenting the remarkable journey and rise of the Titan brand, thereby connecting business history with innovation, branding and organizational growth.
Following refreshments, the students proceeded to the operations floors and various functional centres of the facility. They were introduced to the Centres of Excellence, electroplating shops and other operational areas, providing them with a first-hand understanding of industrial processes and workplace practices. The campus walk-through offered valuable in-sights into the systematic manner in which Eaton integrates Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) standards into its daily operations. The students also observed how organisational arte-facts, workplace practices and living corporate values collectively contribute to building a culture in which “quality begins with the individual.”
The industrial visit provided students with an opportunity to bridge the gap between class-room concepts and real-world industrial practices. The major learning outcomes included:
• Understanding the practical application of business excellence and continuous improvement.
• Gaining exposure to Kaizen and Rapid Improvement Events.
• Appreciating the importance of quality management and operational efficiency.
• Understanding the significance of EHS compliance in modern manufacturing organisations.
• Observing how organisational values shape workplace culture and employee behaviour.
• Developing awareness of the challenges involved in managing industrial operations and processes.
• Connecting academic concepts in management with actual business and manufacturing practices.
