The ASM celebrated the International Cooperatives Day on 3 July 2024 @ 2.30 p.m. After a silent prayer, Ms.Jyotsna Jayan welcomed the Chief Guest and the participants to the session. Prof. (Dr.) B Vijayachandran Pillai, Principal & Director, ASM delivered the presidential address. In his presidential address, he has stated the importance of International Cooperatives Day celebration and the role of Cooperatives in the economic and social development of marginalised group of people living in rural areas.
Mr. P. S. Janardhanan, Former Assistant Registrar, Department of Cooperation, Government of Kerala has served as the resource person in the session. He delivered a talk on Role of Cooperatives in the current Scenario. In his talk, he has narrated a brief history of Cooperative movement in the World, India and in Kerala. Also explained the basic principles of Coperation with relevant examples. He also narrated the structure of Cooperatives in the State of Kerala and the employment opportunities available to youth in the cooperative sector. He explained the role of coopertive institutions in the economic and social empowerment of people belonging to the lower strata of the society. The session was conducted in an interactive style and clarified the queries of participants. At the end, the vote thanks was proposed by Ms. Sona. The session came to an end @4.30.p.m.
