National Reading Day-2025

The Ahalia School of Management celebrated National Reading Day on 19th June 2025 at 2.00 p.m @ Seminar hall to honor the legacy of P.N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Kerala and a staunch advocate of literacy and reading. The day aimed to foster a culture of reading among students and to emphasize the importance of books in personal and societal development. The celebration commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Sanitha A. Librarian, ASM . Followed by a Presidential and inaugural address by Principal & Director, Prof. (Dr). B. Vijayachandran Pillai . He highlighted the significance of National Reading Day and the invaluable contribution of P.N.Panicker in promoting literacy across India. The Principal  encouraged students to cultivate the habit of daily reading to broaden their horizons and develop critical thinking skills with the slogan of Read and Grow. Following the talk, a documentary video titled “P.N. Panicker: The Man Who Taught Kerala to Read” was screened. The film offered insights into Panicker’s life journey, his pioneering efforts in setting up libraries in rural areas, and his mission to make reading accessible to everyone. The documentary left a lasting impact on the audience and inspired many to contribute to the cause of literacy. As a part of the celebrations, a book donation drive was organized wherein students, faculty and staff donated books to support ASM library. A total of 14 books were collected during the drive. Apart from this, a reading session at the library was organised for the students The National Reading Day celebration was a resounding success, fostering awareness about the importance of reading and encouraging the spirit of sharing knowledge through books. The program not only paid tribute to P.N. Panicker but also reignited the love for reading among students and staff. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Manika. The celebrations came to an end by 3.45 p.m.
