International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies – Green Business Innovation Challenge – Day 1

As part of the MBA Evening Class Skill Development Sessions, Ahalia School of Management (ASM) conducted the first day of the Event on Green Business Innovation Challenge on 08 September 2026 @ 5.00 pm, as part of the observance of the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies. The activity was designed to connect the issue of clean air with practical MBA competencies such as problem identification, critical thinking, analytical thinking, teamwork, stakeholder awareness and managerial communication. The session commenced with a formal address by the Principal & Director, Prof. (Dr.) B. Vijayachandran Pillai, followed by a briefing by Mr. Arun Kumar P., Assistant Professor, who explained the modus operandi of the activity. Students were encouraged to view clean air not merely as an environmental concern, but also as a business and management issue involving employee well-being, productivity, operational efficiency, organisational reputation and sustainability.

A total of 30 MBA students participated in the activity and were divided into six teams of five members each, representing the Manufacturing Industry, Healthcare Sector, Transportation, Hospitality, Retail/Logistics and Corporate/IT sectors. Following team formation, the facilitator briefed the students on the case study concerning the challenges faced by a company in balancing environmental responsibility with operational efficiency and business objectives. The Green Business Challenge Worksheet was then handed over to the respective teams, and students were introduced to the initial stages of problem analysis, including identifying the problem, understanding its root causes, identifying key stakeholders and assessing the possible business impact. Students subsequently began discussions within their teams and started analysing the assigned sector from a managerial and sustainability perspective. The first-day session successfully established the foundation for the continuation of the Green Business Innovation Challenge. The activity provided students with an opportunity to practice problem analysis, critical thinking, teamwork, communication and managerial decision-making, while also creating awareness of sustainability and responsible business practices in connection with the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies. The teams will continue the activity in the subsequent session by refining their problem analysis, developing innovative and feasible green business solutions and preparing to communicate their recommendations professionally. The session came to an end at 6.15 pm.
