TRAINING AND PLACEMENT PROGRAMME

ASM conducted a Training and Placement Programme (from 29 July to 2 August 2024) with a view to equip the MBA outgoing batch (2022-24) students for enhancing their employability skills and  professional excellence (Finishing School).  

Day I – 29 July 2024

   On 29 July @ 11.00 am Prof. B .Vijayachandran Pillai (Principal & Director) handled a session on Interview Success – Practical Insights and Tips. In the session, he has narrated the main concerns of the interview board. Also presented some tips to the MBA students how to prepare for an interview with practical examples. He classified the tips into four stages namely (1) before attending interview (2) On the day of Interview (3) During the Interview and (4) After the interview. Thereafter, a mock interview has been conducted for all the participants separately.

 Day II – 30 July 2024

     The second day session focused on the topic “Building Professional profile – CV / Resume Preparation” providing insights and practical guidance on shaping career journey.  Ms. Jyothis Ra-chel Mathews has served as Resource Person. The session began with a discussion on shaping one’s career journey, creating a roadmap for professional development. The next segment focused on sharpening core skills. Students were guided on how to polish their personal presentation and create a professional profile. A significant part of the session was dedicated to resume building, which in-cluded structuring the content of resume suitable for specific job applications. The session also in-troduced students to create video resumes and asked them to create a video resume. The session was of interactive nature and clarified the queries of students.

 Day III – 31 July 2024

      On the third Day @11.am a session on Exploring Career Pathways Opportunities for Man-agement Graduates has been handled by the Resource Person, Dr. K. Manivannan.  He discussed various career path-ways, the career goals, career planning and importance of career stages for Management students.  The different opportunities available for MBA (General and HCM) students based on their area of interest have also been discussed. He has given some tips to increase skills based on their position of choice and advised secondary option to them. 

Day IV – 1 August 2024

      On the fourth day at 11:00 a.m., Ms. Manju M handled a session on “Soft Skills for Professional Excellence” for the fourth-semester MBA students. She covered a range of topics, including the distinction between soft skills and hard skills, the importance of soft skills for professional excellence and strategies for developing these skills in the workplace. The session was interactive, with students being encouraged to identify their own soft skills through real-life examples. Ms. Manju provided practical tips on how to enhance these skills. Additionally, she highlighted the role of continuous improvement and self-assessment in achieving professional growth.

Day V – 2 August 2024

     The last session was handled by Dr.Aashna Sidhic on the Topic Cultivating Positive Attitude-Keys to Workplace Success. The session focused on the critical importance of maintaining a positive attitude among the staff in the workplace. The session was interactive and provided valuable insights and practical advice on how to cultivate and sustain a positive mind set to achieve career success. The session emphasized the significance of being empathetic towards colleagues. Emotional intelligence (EQ) was highlighted as a crucial factor in maintaining a positive attitude. The session also addressed the idea that a good attitude can often outweigh great skill. And finally some tips for maintaining a Positive attitude were discussed.
