DAY 1 SESSION I

VISIT TO AHALIA MEDICINE MANUFACTURING UNIT (AMMU)

As a part of UHV program for the newly admitted MBA students (2024-26 batch), an industrial visit was arranged to Ahalia Medicine Manufacturing Unit (AMMU) on 16.08.2024 at 11.15am. All the students and two faculties visited the industrial unit.

 Ahalia Medicine Manufacturing Unit (AMMU), a unit of Ahalia Health Heritage Knowledge village, Palakkad started operations seven years back. Today, it is full- fledged production unit with most modern equipments of manufacturing. During these years we catered to the needs of patients by manufacturing quality medicines at international standards.

Dr. Vimal, from AMMU has given explanation about the manufacturing process, procurement of raw material, medicine process, quality control standards etc.

Quality Standards & Facilities in AMMU:

  • State of the art manufacturing unit with fully automatic machines like tablets punching machine, blister packing machine and capsuling machine.
  • License to manufacture more than 400 medicines which covers most of the popular medicines in various classes of Ayurveda
  • Well-equipped laboratory for quality control Research and Development activities.
  • The striking advantage we have at Ahalia is ability to source most of the vital fresh herbs with in our campus.

DAY 1 SESSION II

SESSION ON INNOVATIVE BUSINESS ANALYTICS

The afternoon session (2.00 pm.- 4.00pm) was handled by Dr. R. Chandrasekhar Menon, Healthcare Professional and Professor of Business Analytics, Coimbatore on the topic “ Innovative Business Analytics”.  The keypoints in his talk were about:

Business analytics, Data management, Data visualization, predictive modeling, Data mining, Forecasting simulation, and Optimization

Business analytics requires both fundamental knowledge and understanding of quantitative analysis, programming, data architecture and data science, so we need to develop a deep sense of the technical aspects.

Data storage is the retention of digital information on recording media, so that it can be accessed by computers or other devices for future use.

Data mining is the process of sorting through large data sets to identify patterns and relationships that can help solve business problems through data analysis. Data mining techniques and tools help enterprises to predict future trends and make more informed business decisions.

Data analytics which is the process of examining raw data to find patterns, make conclusions, and support decision-making. It involves collecting, trans-forming, and organizing data using various tools, technologies, and processes. The goal is to extract meaningful insights that can help with business intelligence, strategy, and decision-making.

Data visualization which is the representation of data through use of common graphics, such as charts, plots, info graphics and even animations. These visual displays of information communicate complex data relationships and data-driven insights in a way that is easy to understand.

Thus, the speaker concluded by insisting that Business Analytics improves operational efficiency through their daily activities and assists businesses to understand their customers more precisely. Business uses data visualization to offer projections for future outcomes. These insights help in decision making and planning for the future. The students gained the importance of business analytics in current era. The session was useful and ended at 4.15 pm.

DAY 2 SESSION I

SESSION ON INNOVATIONS INMANGEMENT: THE AI DRIVEN LEADERSHIP REVOLUTION

The session was handled by Mr. Gurudath Sadanandan, Head, Ahalia School of Media Studies and future technologies. Prof. Dr. B.Vijayachandran Pillai, Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management welcomed the resource person. Mr. Gurudath conducted an interactive workshop and gave hands-on experience to students to make them understand better about Data Information AI & Generative AI. He insisted about Digital Literacy, which is the ability of individuals and communities to understand and use digital technologies for meaningful actions within life situations. He also discussed about Virtual team engagement and its importance. He taught the students about online collaboration tools like apps, software programs, or platforms that help businesses and their people streamline the creative process, and work together more effectively and efficiently. Finally, he talked about the seven principles of S3.0 in detail. The session ended with an online quiz at 11.15am.

DAY 2 SESSION II

CAMPUS VISIT

A campus visit was arranged at 11.30am for the First Year MBA 2024-26 Batch students to familiarize with the Ahalia campus. It was a great opportunity for the new comers to explore and experience the biggest eco-friendly campus in Kerala. Apart from Ahalia rock garden, Ahalia museum, Ahalia Children’s Village and Lake, students visited four Ahalia Hospitals as well as educational institutions in the Ahalia campus. Two faculties guided and explained about the campus. The team reached the ASM campus by 1.00 p.m.

DAY 2 SESSION III

SESSION ON ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP: FROM VISION TO CHANGE

On 17/08/2024 in the afternoon session, the ASM organized an invited talk on “Entrepreneurial Leadership: From Vision to Change” at 2:00 pm in ASM Seminar Hall. Prof. Dr. B.Vijayachandran Pillai, (Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management) welcomed the resource person, Mr. Sunil Joseph, MD Sark Cables Ltd. Kanjikode and other participants to the session. The resource person talked about the importance of entrepreneurship for the youth as entrepreneurship offers benefits to individuals and communities, such as economic growth, self-fulfillment and the creation of jobs for community members. He gave insights about entrepreneurship by explaining his own experience with examples. He also provided certain tips for the students to motivate them in to the field of entrepreneurship. He narrated the issues and challenges faced by him during the early stages of entrepreneurship.  It was an interactive session and the students and faculties clarified their queries and the session came to an end at 4:15 pm.

DAY 3 SESSION I

SESSION ON INNOVATING WITH EMPATHY – DESIGN THINKING FOR STRATEGIC BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

Our Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management Prof. Dr. B.Vijayachandran Pillai welcomed the resource persons of the sessions. The first session started at 10.00 a.m. by Mr.J.Christy Andrews, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Sri Krishna College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. The resource person shared his views on the topic – innovating with Empathy – Design thinking for strategic business leadership to make students understand better about Design thinking and how Design Thinking empowers participants to take ownership of the problem-solving process and feel confident in their ability to innovate. The session ended at 11.15 a.m.

DAY 3 SESSION II

 A SESSION ON ‘FROM IDEA TO EXECUTION- KEY STEPS IN BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL START-UP

The second session was on the topic “From Idea to execution- key steps in building a Successful Start-Up” at 11.30 a.m. Mr. Adarsh, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Science (Logistics), Sri Krishna College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore  handled the session. He talked about the Innovation which is the lifeblood of any successful start-up. Also, he advised the budding entrepreneurs to stay ahead of the curve by continuously innovating and evolving your products or services to meet the changing needs of your customers and to keep a close eye on industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the market. It was an interactive session and the students clarified their queries and the session came to an end at 1.15 p.m.

DAY 3 SESSION III

YOGA FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE IN MBA JOURNEY

The afternoon session started at 2.00 p.m. The topic was “Yoga for peak performance in MBA journey” was handled by Dr. Farshad K. H (Yoga Instructor) at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College Hospital. The session began with a warm welcome from Mr. Shibu, the Administrative officer , Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College Hospital. Mr. Shibu provided a comprehensive briefing about the hospital, outlining its functioning, and introducing the students to various departments and the wide range of services offered. He also highlighted the uniqueness of the hospital, particularly its integrative approach to traditional and modern healthcare practices. Following the orientation, the students were escorted to the yoga session led by Dr. Farshad K. H. He introduced the students to the basics of yoga, emphasizing the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for holistic well-being. The session included practical demonstrations, where students actively participated.

Following the yoga session, the students were taken to Ahalia FM Station, an integral part of the Ahalia Group’s outreach efforts. At the FM station, the students had the unique opportunity to be part of a recording session. They observed the behind-the-scenes processes of radio broadcasting and even contributed to the recording, giving them hands-on experience in media production. This visit provided them with valuable insights into the functioning of a radio station and the role of media in community engagement. The session ended at 4.15 p.m.

DAY 4 SESSION I

 A SESSION ON NAVIGATING FINANCIAL ETHICS

The first session started at 9.30 a.m. Mr. CA Anil K.C., Chartered Accountant, Ahalia Group served as the resource person for the session. His talk was on the topic “Navigating Financial Ethics”. He shared stories about financial industries’ countless scandals and news stories about professionals who have defrauded investors, employers, and peers. Also, he gave insights about various career opportunities in financial sector. This session made students to actively interact in seeking information about various job roles related to finance. Finally, he explained about the importance and role of Chartered Accountant (CA) in the areas of accounting and auditing. The session ended at 11.15 a.m.

The session was followed by Management games at 11.30 a.m. To keep MBA students motivated, interested, and engaged, we planned to introduce the world of games that MBA students can play. The students actively participated and showcased their talents in the games. The session ended at 1.00 p.m.

DAY 4 SESSION II

A SESSION ON RECENT TRENDS IN BANKING

The afternoon session started at 2.00 p. m and the session was handled by Mr. N Vaidyanath, Former Regional Manager- SBI & BFSI Trainer  on the topic “ Recent Trends in Banking”. He has given a brief description about the banking in the olden days to the modern era. He explained about the innovations in banking systems like ATM, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, Digital Wallets etc. The resource person gave insights about a glimpse on Banking in the future which had an emphasis on innovative technologies to vastly facilitate banking–inclusive banking through new types of bank models, non-traditional alliances to make banking affordable, and Fintech capabilities to make banking customer-centric. He talked about the reforms in the Indian banking sector which had been introduced to increase the efficiency, stability, and effectiveness of banks. Current trends in banking include data and analytics, enhanced security and fraud mitigation, digital payments, cloud-based architectures and mobile apps in India. It was an informative session and the students and faculties clarified their queries and the session came to an end at 4:15 p.m.

DAY 5 SESSION I

A SESSION ON AUGMENTED REALITY – A GAME CHANGER FOR MODERN BUSINESS

The first session started at 9.30 a.m. and it was handled by Mr. Vimal Raju, HoD, Virtual Production, Ahalia School of Media Studies and Future Technologies, Ahalia Group on the topic “Augmented Reality – A Game Changer for Modern Business”. He shared his views about history and evolution of Augmented reality (AR). With the rise of more powerful computers, AR’s evolution accelerated. Also, he gave insights about trends in Augmented Reality (AR) in business applications and mobile computing. Finally, he explained about the Augmented Reality its benefits and challenges which makes possible to reduce design, production, and maintenance costs in an organisation. The session ended at 11.15 a.m. with an interactive activity with the students.

DAY 5 SESSION II

 A SESSION ON DRUG ABUSE ADDICTION

The second session was on the topic “Drug Abuse and Addiction”. The resource person was  Mr. Abdul Bassith. A, Excise Preventive Officer, Palakkad Division.  He discussed the evil effects of drug addiction. The session provided valuable insights into the profound impact of substance abuse on individuals and communities, emphasizing the urgent need for prevention, treatment, and support. Students interacted with the resource person as he shared his live experiences with the students and this session helped to increase students’ awareness of the dangers and consequences of drug abuse. And also provided accurate information about different types of drugs, their effects, and their legal status. The session ended at 1.00 p.m. with a pledge against drug use and addiction.

DAY 5 SESSION III

GENERAL MANAGEMENT AND BEST PRACTICES

The afternoon session started at 2.00 p.m. and the session was handled by Mr.K.Madhavan Unni IRS (Retd), Academic and Administration Co-ordinator, IIT, Palakkad on the topic “General Management and Best Practices”. The resource person gave insights about general management and its importance in our daily life. Because it provides the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively run and lead organizations of all types and sizes. It is a fundamental concept that helps individuals and businesses achieve their goals and objectives

He talked about the Management Best Practices to Use such as

  • Hire the right people
  • Be consistent in your actions.
  • Communicate clearly, accurately and thoroughly
  • Listen actively and ask questions
  • Lead by example.
  • Delegate and get out of the way
  • Provide constructive feedback regularly

 It was an informative session and the students and faculties clarified their queries and the session came to an end at 4.15 p.m.

DAY 6 SESSION I

A SESSION ON INTRODCTION TO DATA SCIENCE

The first session began at 9:30 a.m. handled by Dr. R. Sivakumar, Dean of Research and Professor of CSE at Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology, Palakkad. The topic was “Introduction to Data Science.” Dr. Sivakumar provided an overview of Data Science and its key processes. He discussed different types of Data Structures, as well as the formats and sources of data. He also differentiated the roles of Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Business Analyst, and Business Intelligence Analyst. Additionally, he provided insight into the data analysis process, which includes data collection, data mining, and data visualization. He also touched upon emerging concepts such as feature engineering and Data Modeling. The session concluded at 11:00 a.m.

DAY 6 SESSION II

A SESSION ON SCOPE OF AYURVEDA

The second session started at 11:15 a.m. Dr. Anoopkumar c. A., professor and hod/consultant in the department of Panchakarma at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital served as the resource person. The topic was “scope of Ayurveda.” the resource person stated that Ayurveda has a growing scope and offers various career options, including clinical practice, research, education, wellness tourism, nutrition and dietetics, pharmaceuticals, public health, entrepreneurship, massage centers, therapy, and health counseling. He also emphasized the importance of Ayurveda in our daily lives. It was an informative session, and students had the opportunity to clarify their queries. The session concluded at 1:15 p.m.

DAY 7 SESSION I

GROUP DISCUSSION

The first session was Group Discussion which started at 9.30 a.m. Group discussions provide an avenue for students to share their unique perspectives on case studies, business scenarios, and challenges. Students were informed about rules and regulations of Group Discussion and they were divided into five groups. The following topics were given to various groups.

Group 1- 2024 Union Budget- Good or Bad for middle class?

Group 2- ChatGPT- Merits and Demerits.

Group 3- Ethics or Profit? (Hospital Perspective)

Group 4- NEP 2020- Boon or Bane?

Group 5- Is MBA necessary to be successful in Business?

Students were given time to discuss the topics among their group members before starting the formal group discussions. Each group presented their views, followed by an in-depth discussion on the respective topics. Faculty members were present to evaluate the students’ performance, providing constructive feedback and suggesting areas for improvement to help them excel in future sessions. The session concluded at 1.00 p.m.

DAY 7 SESSION II

A SESSION ON ANTI-RAGGING AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT

The afternoon session started at 2.00 p.m. and the session was handled by Adv.Mrs.Reena Jaijith, Advocate, District Court, Palakkad on the topic “Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment”. The resource person gave insights about protection and safety for both staff and students from all sexual predators and that ragging is dealt with sternly and severely. She told that all institutions have taken measures to monitor the activities of students through CCTV footage.

     She insisted to bring in the value of gender equality in co-education, to provide a healthy and congenial atmosphere for staff and students without gender discrimination. She listed the various offences such as verbal or physical threats, insulting, abusive, embarrassing or patronizing behaviour or comments, offensive gestures, language, rumours, gossip or jokes, humiliating, intimidating, demeaning and/or persistent criticism, open hostility. She also told about the result of ragging leads to victims who suffer in the form of depression, demoralization, isolation and other detrimental effects on their personality. It was an informative session for both the students and faculties and the session came to an end at 4.15 p.m.

DAY 8 SESSION I

EMPOWERING TOMORROW’S LEADERS: SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

The first session was handled by Mr.V.M.Satheesh, Counseling Psychologist, Ahalia Group started at 9.30 a.m. He delivered a talk on the topic “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Skills for Success”.  He stated that Empowering youth with critical thinking and effective communication skills is essential for nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. These skills enable young leaders to navigate complex challenges and in-spire positive change in their communities. He insisted that “A leader of tomorrow is someone who cares about their community or a person who dedicates time and effort to a cause that they think needs to be addressed”.  He also motivated the students that in today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving business landscape, effective leadership is more critical than ever. The session ended at 11.00a.m.

DAY 8 SESSION II

A SESSION ON FOUNDATIONS FOR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

The second session for the day started at 11.15a.m. on the topic “ Foundations for Personal and Professional Growth” by Ms.Medha, Counselling Psychologist, Ahalia Group. She told that essentially, personal and professional growth is all about seeking out ways to do your job better. This includes both hard and soft skills. For ex-ample, if you’re an accountant, spending time on hard skills relating to your job will obviously help you to find ways of working faster and more effectively. The key skills for personal development include time management, communication, organization, critical thinking, adaptability, and confidence. She gave eight strategies which will help the students to prioritize their professional development:

  • Focus on objectives.
  • Manage obstacles and distractions.
  • Set boundaries.
  • Make learning a habit.
  • Make every minute count.
  • Learn at your best.
  • Find your own learning style
  • Collaborate with others

Students interacted with the psychologist and clarified their doubts and session ended at 1.00 p. m

DAY 8 SESSION III

A SESSION ON GOOD LIVING HABITS

The afternoon session started at 2.00 p.m and the session was handled by Dr.Prem Narayanan, Senior Consultant Endocrinologist & Diabetologist, Medical Director, Ahalia Diabetes Hospital on the topic “Good Living Habits”. The resource person gave insights about good habits which benefit our physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health. These are the habits that will get us closer to living our best life. Good habits will help us become more productive and energetic. These habits help us move forward.  He discussed that many habits will help us achieve long-term goals. If we break down larger goals into smaller, manageable habits, they become more achievable and sustainable over time. Health and Wellness. Healthy habits, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep, contribute to physical and mental well-being. It was an informative session for both the students and faculties and the session came to an end at 4.15 p.m.
