WORLD THRIFT DAY CELEBRATIONS

On account of World Thrift Day celebrations, ASM has organised two sessions. The first session started at 9.30am and it was handled by Dr.P.Karthika, Associate Professor, Management Department, College of Business and Economics, Kebri Dehar University, Ethiopia. The Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management Prof. Dr. B.Vijayachandran Pillai welcomed the resource person and introduced the subject. The resource person has delivered a talk on the topic ”Digital Finance”. She shared insights about a broad range of technology-enabled financial activities including online banking, mobile payments, POS terminals, and crypto currencies. The driving purpose of digital finance is to enhance the reach, speed and cost-effectiveness of financial services making them more accessible to the general public. The session came to an end at 10.40 a.m with a formal vote of thanks by Ms.Binsiya. The second session started at 10.45am was handled by Mrs. Kiruthiga G, Subject Expert in Banking & Financial Services, KGiSL MicroCollege, Coimbatore. The Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management welcomed the resource person with a brief note on the topic “Financial Literacy- The Guide to Manage your money”. The resource person emphasised on the importance of celebration of World Thrift Day as an individual and nation as a whole. She inculcated into the minds of the students about the idea of saving their money in a bank rather than keeping it idle. She also talked about the reasons for saving money. She opined that the reasons such as Saving money gives us options and peace of mind and helps us to meet life goals, cover emergencies and prepare for retirement. Also, the more we save, the easier it becomes to accumulate additional savings, thanks to compounding. It was an interactive session and the students and faculties clarified their queries on financial aspects and the session came to an end at 12:30 pm.
