The ASM observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2025 at 2:00 PM. The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju M, who greeted all participants and highlighted the importance of the event. This was followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. Aashna Sidhic, who provided a comprehensive overview of the harmful effects of drug abuse. She discussed the contributing factors behind substance misuse, its severe social consequences, and the various treatment modalities available to support recovery and rehabilitation. The resource person for the session was Dr. Nigesh V, Family Physician at Ahalia Diabetes Hospital, Palakkad. He delivered an insightful and impactful presentation on the destructive impact of drug abuse, elaborating on the different types of addictive substances and their detrimental effects on both the mind and body. He emphasized the urgent need to eliminate drug usage in order to build a healthier, more resilient society. Thereafter an oath-taking ceremony against drug abuse was taken by both staff and students as a gesture of collective commitment. The program concluded at 3:30 PM with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Theertha.
