As part of its commitment to promoting financial inclusion and enhancing financial literacy among students, Ahalia School of Management (ASM) undertook a significant initiative in collaboration with Canara Bank, Ahalia Campus Branch. On 10 February 2026, ASM facilitated the opening of zero balance savings bank accounts for MBA students, with the primary objective of enabling students to access essential banking services and encouraging responsible financial behaviour at an early stage of their professional journey.
Prior to the programme, detailed information regarding the account opening process and required documentation was communicated to the students through official WhatsApp groups, ensuring maximum participation and preparedness. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from the student community, reflecting the growing awareness of the importance of formal financial systems.During the programme, Ms. Shruthi, Branch Manager, Canara Bank, Ahalia Campus Branch, addressed the students and provided a comprehensive explanation of the features and benefits of the zero balance savings account. The session covered aspects such as account operations, debit card usage, digital banking facilities, fund transfers and security measures, thereby strengthening students’ understanding of basic banking and financial management practices. The successful execution of this initiative was made possible through the proactive support, guidance and efficient facilitation extended by the Branch Manager and officials of Canara Bank.
