Group Discussion Programme for MBA Students

Ahalia School of Management organized an evening session on Group Discussion Programme for MBA students on 14 May 2026 with the objective of enhancing students’ communication, analytical thinking, and group interaction skills. The session was moder-ated by Dr. B. Vijayachandran Pillai, Principal & Director, along with panel members Dr. Padmaavathy P.A., Jyothis Rachel Mathews and Ashitha T.

The topic selected for the group discussion was “Social Media – Connecting People or Creating Isolation.” The moderator explained the four important stages of the group dis-cussion process, namely preparation, individual presentation, open discussion, and report writing. Students were guided on the importance of content clarity, communication style, listening skills, teamwork, and confidence while participating in discussions. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students. Participants actively shared their opinions, arguments and perspectives on the positive and negative impacts of social media in contemporary society. The discussion created an engaging learning atmosphere and enabled students to improve their presentation and interpersonal skills. At the end of the session, individual feedback was provided to the students by the moderator and panel members. Constructive suggestions were given to help students improve their communication, critical thinking and overall group discussion performance. The programme proved to be highly beneficial in preparing students for placements, inter-views and professional interactions.
