Ahalia School of Management (ASM), Palakkad, organized a programme in connection with World First Aid Day 2026 on 16 September 2026, based on the theme “First Aid Skills for Future Managers.” The programme, with the support of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Kerala Start- up Mission and Innova-tion and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), commenced at 4.30 PM with a welcome address by Ms. Krishna (I Sem. MBA Student), followed by the presidential address by Prof. (Dr.) B. Vijayachandran Pillai, Principal & Director, Ahalia School of Management. In his address, he emphasized the importance of practical life skills, safety awareness, preparedness, responsible leadership and the ability to respond effectively during emergencies.
The session was handled by Mr. Benny K. Andrews and Kannadas V, Rajan C Senior Fire and Rescue Officers, Fire and Rescue Station, Kanjikode, Palakkad, who provided students with detailed and practical exposure to first aid, emergency response, fire safety, rescue procedures and emergency preparedness. Drawing from his professional experience, he explained the importance of remaining calm, assessing emergency situations, ensuring personal safety, providing appropriate immediate assistance, communicating effectively and seeking professional help without delay. The session also highlighted the relevance of first-aid and emergen-cy-response skills to future managers, particularly in developing leadership, deci-sion-making, teamwork, crisis-management and social responsibility. The practical nature of the session enabled students to connect these essential skills with real-life and workplace situations. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks pro-posed by Mr. Amal. The session came to an end at 6.00 PM. The programme was an experiential learning initiative that sensitized students to the importance of first aid, fire safety and emergency preparedness while reinforcing the message that future managers should be equipped not only with professional knowledge but also with the ability to respond responsibly and effectively in critical situations.
